3. Marion Cookson wedding announcement (Henry Harrison Cookson, William R, Mary Rodman, Roseann Cuac, Andrew John)
The approaching marriage of Miss Marion Cookson of Deming, New Mexico, and Mr. J.L. Bradford was announced Saturday at a tea given in the bride-elect’s honor by Mrs. J.M. Bradford and daughters, Miss Mildred Bradford and Mrs. Glidden Wilson, Jr.
The Bradford home on Avenue ----- decorated beautifully with fall baskets of roses and blue hydrangeas, which carried out the bride-elect’s colors of blue and white.
Miss Lena Vinson and Mrs. Bradford greeted the guests at the home after which Mrs. Wilson presented the honoree, Miss Cookson. Other members of the house party included Mrs. Orville H. Cookson of Roswell, New Mexico, Mrs. J.W. Jennings, Mrs. Clyde McIntosh, Mrs. J.R. Stalcup and Miss Gladys Hicks.
The tea table was attractively laid with white satin and appointed with crystal and silver. White rosebuds, gyposphlia and snapdragons centered the table and formed an arch for the miniature bride and groom. A heart suspended from the arch made the announcement, “Marion and J.L., May 23.”
Presiding at the table were Miss Julia Rogers of Cleburne, Mrs. S.F. Porter and Mrs. A.S. Edwards. They were assisted in serving by Misses Mary Mathews, Mary Helen Whitfield, Jean Strickland, Mrs. C.Q. Davis and Mrs. Sam White.
Guests were directed to the music room, which was decorated with white satin wedding bells and baskets of white and pink rosebuds, by Miss Callie Hornsby and Mrs. J.W. Hicks. Musical selections were given by Misses Genia Sprinkle, Anna Louise Marshall (violin) accompanied by Geraldine Eikenberg and Howard Payne trio. Dorothy and Doris McIntosh and Frances Evans, accompanied by Norma Guy.
Miss Lurline Poe presided at the bride’s register. Goodbyes were said to Miss Carolyn Rice. About 200 guests called.”
